Hilda Kwoffie
Meet Hilda Kwoffie, our Founder and Mentor.
Hilda is a Solicitor of the Senior Courts of England and Wales specialising in Civil Liberties and Human Rights Law. In 2024, Hilda founded The BAME Woman in Law, a UK-registered charity supporting women from minority ethnic backgrounds in accessing, navigating, and thriving within the legal profession.
Hilda’s work in DEI has received national recognition, including Mentor of the Year at the Women and Diversity in Law Awards 2025 and Diversity & Inclusion Champion at the National Junior Lawyers Division (JLD) of the Law Society Awards 2025.
Hilda is also the author of Beyond Survival and a contributing author to Beyond Bias.
Hilda hopes to inspire minority ethnic women to pursue ambitious goals confidently and know that they belong within the legal profession.

Bessie Ogbobine
Meet Bessie Ogbobine, our Mentor.
Bessie is a Family Solicitor at Veale Wasbrough Vizards (VWV), specialising in divorce, financial proceedings, private children matters, and cohabitation disputes. Bessie studied Law at the University of Southampton before completing a Master’s in Criminology and Criminal Justice at Durham University and the LPC at the University of Law.
With over six years of legal experience, Bessie is passionate about supporting women of colour in the legal profession and encouraging diverse career journeys. Bessie believes mentorship creates community, confidence, and opportunity, and is committed to uplifting minority ethnic women in law.

Maame Adjoa Boatema Takyi
Meet Maame Adjoa Boatema Takyi, our Mentor.
Maame is a Client Experience Expert at Irwin Mitchell Solicitors, where she combines her passion for people with her legal knowledge to support clients throughout their legal journey. Maame holds a BA in Information Studies and History and later completed her MA Law (Conversion) with Commendation at the University of Sheffield.
Maame is passionate about Criminal Law, Medical Negligence, and advocating for women and girls from minority ethnic backgrounds.
Through mentoring at The BAME Woman in Law, Maame hopes to empower minority ethnic women to pursue successful legal careers with confidence, resilience, and purpose.

Paxtina Agyemang
Meet Paxtina Agyemang, our Mentor.
Paxtina is an aspiring Barrister currently completing her Bar Training Course with an LLM at BPP University. Paxtina graduated with a First-Class Honours degree in Law and received multiple academic awards for outstanding achievement.
Passionate about advocacy and representation, Paxtina volunteers with Citizens Advice, supporting individuals facing legal and social challenges. She has also received prestigious scholarships recognising her dedication to diversity within the legal profession.
Through mentoring at The BAME Woman in Law, Paxtina hopes to empower minority ethnic women to pursue ambitious legal careers with confidence, resilience, and the belief that their voices matter.

Majeja Miah
Meet Majeja Miah, our Mentor.
Majeja is a Solicitor at Cartwright King Solicitors, specialising in Child Care Law and representing parents and grandparents in Public and Private Children Law proceedings. Majeja is passionate about safeguarding children’s welfare while ensuring families’ rights are protected.
As a Bengali woman in law, Majeja is committed to championing diversity, inclusion, and representation within the legal profession. Majeja also serves as the Diversity and Inclusion Representative for the Surrey Junior Lawyers Division and supports vulnerable individuals through pro bono work.
Through mentoring at The BAME Woman in Law, Majeja hopes to empower minority ethnic women to pursue legal careers with confidence and purpose.

Aarya Sinha
Meet Aarya Sinha, our Mentor.
Aarya is a future Trainee Solicitor at Burges Salmon LLP and previously worked as a Paralegal in the firm’s Banking and Finance department. Aarya graduated from the University of Bristol with an LLB and later completed the LPC with Distinction at the University of Law.
Passionate about access to justice and diversity within the legal profession, Aarya has supported individuals through the University of Bristol Law Clinic and actively contributes to BCultured, Burges Salmon’s BAME network.
Through mentoring at The BAME Woman in Law, Aarya hopes to empower aspiring women from minority ethnic backgrounds to thrive confidently within the legal profession.

Akua Boakyewaa Mensah
Meet Akua Boakyewaa Mensah, our Mentor.
Akua is a qualified Lawyer from Ghana and a Registered Foreign Lawyer with the Solicitors Regulation Authority in England and Wales. Akua holds an LLB with First Class Honours, completed her Legal Professional Course with Distinction, and recently earned her LLM.
Akua specialises in Information Technology and Intellectual Property Law, with interests in Immigration Law and Technology-driven Business Development. Passionate about mentorship and representation, Akua has supported aspiring legal professionals and students from diverse backgrounds throughout their journeys.
Through mentoring at The BAME Woman in Law, Akua hopes to empower minority ethnic women to pursue legal careers with confidence, ambition, and purpose.

Wuraoluwa Nihinlola
Meet Wuraoluwa Nihinlola, our Mentor.
Wuraoluwa is a future Trainee Solicitor at Pinsent Masons, having completed her LLB at the University of Kent and her LLM Legal Practice (SQE 1 & 2) at the University of Law.
Passionate about advancing equality and supporting underrepresented groups, Wuraoluwa served as Diversity and Inclusion Officer for the Kent Law Society, helping to build a more welcoming and supportive community. Wuraoluwa’s volunteering with Citizens Advice Medway and her work with asylum seekers at Elizabeth Rose Solicitors strengthened her commitment to social justice.
Through mentoring at The BAME Woman in Law, Wuraoluwa hopes to support and inspire women from minority ethnic backgrounds to pursue their goals confidently and succeed within the legal profession.

Tanaka Basikolo
Meet Tanaka Basikolo, our Mentor.
Tanaka is a Newly Qualified Solicitor specialising in Commercial Litigation. Tanaka qualified through the SQE route after obtaining a First Class LLB (Hons) and a Merit in her Master's degree in International Commercial Law.
With over seven years of experience in the legal industry across a variety of practice areas, Tanaka is passionate about supporting aspiring lawyers and helping to make the legal profession more accessible. Having navigated the SQE route herself, she is committed to sharing practical insights, lessons learned and career guidance to help women from minority ethnic backgrounds pursue and progress in their legal careers with confidence.
Outside of law, Tanaka enjoys following developments in fashion and beauty, particularly where they intersect with legal and commercial issues.

Yasmeen Khan
Meet Yasmeen Khan, our Mentor.
Yasmeen Khan is a Consultant Solicitor specialising in Children and Family law, with over a decade of experience in private children, public law care, divorce, and residential conveyancing matters. Admitted to the Roll in November 2024 after building an extensive pre-qualification career, Yasmeen brings a grounded, real-world perspective to both her practice and support of others in the profession.
As a British Muslim woman of South Asian heritage, Yasmeen understands firsthand the particular challenges that BAME women face in navigating the legal profession. From breaking into practice areas perceived as unwelcoming, to managing the invisible labour of being "the only one in the room”, Yasmeen built her legal career whilst raising a family, and she knows what it takes to keep going when the path is anything but straightforward.
Alongside her practice, Yasmeen has naturally gravitated toward supporting colleagues and peers, by supporting others in clarifying their direction, building confidence, and making bold career decisions. Yasmeen is now channelling that into a formal mentoring space, focused on helping BAME women identify what they want, dismantle what's in the way, and move forward with clarity and confidence.

Mame Darko
Meet Mame Darko, our Events Officer.
Mame, also known as Adubea, is an aspiring Barrister and an LLB graduate from the University of Greenwich. Passionate about supporting her community, Mame gained valuable experience at the university’s Legal Advice Centre, where she conducted legal research, triaged clients, and drafted advice letters on housing and community welfare matters.
Mame’s key interests include Criminal, Family, Housing, and Immigration Law. Alongside her legal ambitions, Mame is a dedicated wife and mother of four.
Mame is excited to be part of The BAME Woman in Law and looks forward to growing personally and professionally within the organisation.

Ewuraba Dadzie
Meet Ewuraba Dadzie, our Events Officer.
Ewuraba is a Paralegal and a Law graduate from the University of Law, currently working towards qualifying as a Solicitor. Through Ewuraba’s studies and professional experience, she has developed strong legal foundations and a growing passion for advocacy and justice.
Ewuraba is passionate about helping others by addressing injustice and creating positive change within the legal profession. Ewuraba is also committed to encouraging innovation and creative growth in the industry. Through her role at The BAME Woman in Law, Ewuraba looks forward to supporting and empowering aspiring legal professionals.

Meet Rhea Valerie Tagoe, our Events Officer.
Rhea is a Law student at BPP University with a strong passion for equality, advocacy, and access to justice. As an Events Officer at The BAME Woman in Law, Rhea helps organise impactful events that promote inclusion, mentorship, and representation within the legal profession.
Rhea brings valuable experience from both the Ghanaian and UK legal sectors, combining a global perspective with a commitment to community empowerment.
Rhea believes collaboration and representation are key to creating meaningful change and is passionate about supporting underrepresented voices to thrive confidently within the legal field.

Jessica Boateng-Bediako
Meet Jessica Boateng-Bediako, our Events Officer.
Jessica is a Law conversion student at BPP University with a strong interest in social justice, advocacy, and the role of law in shaping society.
As Events Officer at The BAME Woman in Law, Jessica supports the planning and delivery of events that promote inclusion, mentorship, and access to opportunities for underrepresented voices in the legal profession.
Jessica brings experience from the Ghanaian legal and judicial sector, including work with the Judicial Service of Ghana and the U.S. Embassy in Ghana.
Jessica is passionate about creating meaningful spaces that empower and inspire future legal professionals.

Ifunanya Sonia Ahanonu
Meet Ifunanya Sonia Ahanonu, our Events Officer.
Sonia is a Lead Paralegal at DWF Law and an LLM LPC Master’s student at Liverpool John Moores University. As Events Officer at The BAME Woman in Law, Sonia supports initiatives that promote inclusion, mentorship, and opportunities for minority ethnic women in the legal profession.
Originally from Italy and raised by Nigerian immigrant parents, Sonia moved to the UK at 18 to pursue her legal education.
Passionate about representation and community, Sonia regularly supports aspiring lawyers by sharing guidance on legal education, work experience, and early legal careers within the profession.

Ronke Akintan
Meet Ronke Akintan, our Events Officer and Mentorship Programme Officer.
Ronke is a Law graduate and the current Student Union President at the University of Worcester. Passionate about justice and equality, Ronke is working towards becoming a Barrister and plans to begin her Bar course in 2026.
Ronke is also a dedicated volunteer, having supported organisations such as Citizens Advice Bureau Worcester through her commitment to community service. Ronke is passionate about empowering others and advocating for people’s rights.
Through her role at The BAME Woman in Law, Ronke hopes to support and inspire minority ethnic women pursuing careers in law.

Claudia Chelsea Davies
Meet Claudia Chelsea Davies, our Social Media Officer.
Claudia holds an MA in Law from The University of Law and is currently preparing for the Solicitors Qualifying Examination (SQE). Claudia has a strong interest in Family Law and is passionate about building a meaningful legal career within the field.
Alongside her legal studies, Claudia has developed a passion for videography and digital storytelling, bringing creativity, attention to detail, and strong technical skills to content creation.
Through her role at The BAME Woman in Law, Claudia is excited to amplify underrepresented voices, celebrate achievements, and support a community focused on inclusion, representation, and empowerment in law.

Adom is a Law student at Brunel University London with a strong interest in Commercial Law and International Arbitration. Adom is passionate about promoting equality, representation, and inclusion within the legal profession.
As an aspiring Solicitor, Adom is committed to using the law to empower underrepresented communities and advocate for fairness and accessibility within the justice system.

Tamera is a Law student at Brunel University London with a strong interest in Commercial Law and International Arbitration. Tamera is passionate about the business side of law and enjoys exploring how disputes can be resolved effectively while supporting successful transactions.
As an aspiring Solicitor, Tamera values strong communication, active listening, and solution-focused thinking. Tamera is also committed to promoting inclusion and widening access to opportunities within the legal profession.

Meet Maria Relucio, our Partnerships and Fundraising Officer.
Maria is a multidisciplinary legal and social justice professional with expertise in Business Law, Data and Technology Compliance, and International Law. Maria is a Member of CILEX and holds advanced legal qualifications in International and Migration Law.
Alongside her legal work, Maria is a Behavioural Scientist, Professor, and Certified Coach with a strong commitment to social justice, mental health, and equality.
Passionate about creating inclusive systems and opportunities, Maria hopes to build meaningful partnerships and support sustainable growth through her role at The BAME Woman in Law, empowering minority ethnic women to thrive within the legal profession.

Dorothy’s journey has been shaped by valuable legal internships, leadership experiences, and serving as a student representative for the Sheffield Junior Lawyers Division. Passionate about mentoring, innovation, and community-building, Dorothy believes in the power of collaboration to create meaningful change.

Joana Osei-Tete
Meet Joana Osei-Tete, our Ghana Outreach Officer for Ekuba Initiative, the outreach arm of The BAME Woman in Law.
Joana holds a degree in Political Science and French from the University of Ghana and is passionate about pursuing a career as a bilingual Lawyer, with interests in Commercial and Human Rights Law.
Alongside her academic ambitions, Joana is committed to community service and recently founded a mentorship programme for young women in her church, focused on faith, personal growth, and life skills development.
Through her role with Ekuba Initiative, Joana hopes to contribute to creating opportunities for growth, mentorship, and meaningful impact.
